How To Buy Discount Wood Blinds

Frequently, discount wood blinds are the perfect answer for sprucing up your home. Unfortunately, many times, we think that these blinds would be way out of our price range, but in actuality nothing could be further from the truth.

Mixx LinkedIn Facebook Digg Reddit Meneame Twitter Technorati delicious Myspace Yahoo Buzz Google StumbleUpon Sphinn
natural, plantation, cordless, door, imitation, basswood, mini, slat, one, cherry, exterior, shutters, woven, blackout, windows

You will see faux wood vertical blinds, woven, discount faux, 1 inch faux wood blinds, and then there will be a whole array of cheap wooden blinds including the wood Venetian blinds.

You will find all of these types and many more in the discount category for wooden blinds for windows.  Amazingly, if you are patient and willing to do a little computer research you will be able to find just the type and style you are looking for at a greatly discounted price.

And, that is true regardless of whether your ideas are leading you to real cherry, bamboo, matchstick, oak, or any of the fake wood blinds. Here is a handy little guideline for how to buy wooden blinds direct at wholesale prices.

First, before you even sit down to the computer to start your research, grab a tape measure and write down, the measurements of all the windows you will be covering.  Typically, you will have several windows of the same size and a few odd balls in the kitchen and bathrooms.  Write down the measurements and how many you will need of each.

Second, run down to Walmart or maybe an upscale local store that specializes in window treatments.  But I thought you said to shop online?  I did, and we will get to that.  But, because items don’t always look the same online as they do when you are giving them a hard eyeball, it is best to do a little window-shopping first.

Check out the wood Venetian blinds and the cheap faux wood blinds, but don’t forget to look at the real cherry ones too.  Look at the ones from Hunter Douglas, Grandwood, Graber, and Bali.  This is the best way to get a good idea about all the different styles and types that are on the market today.  In doing this, you will more than likely change your mind back and forth several times, but eventually you will settle on just the perfect ones for your home.

Take a pad and pen with you while you are going from store to store, notice the prices, ask if there are going to be any upcoming sales in the blinds department.  Often the clerks know ahead of time when the various blinds will be put on sale.  Typically, the wood blinds are put on sale a couple of times a year.

Just like the local stores, the online stores also have regular sales.  Online stores like Hunter Douglas and Bali are great places to get huge discounts.  Check their websites for sales and ask their online customer service if there are any sales coming up. Most of these Internet sites have live chat during the daytime, and they will be glad to answer any questions that you may have.

When buying discount wood blinds online it is important to understand their warranty and return policy.  Reputable companies will have both on standard sizes, but if you are ordering custom blinds for your odd sized kitchen windows, you will probably be stuck with the.

Like any other big-ticket item that you purchase for your home, the key to being successful is to know what you want and then be patient enough to wait for the bargain sales that all the dealers put on their wood blinds from time to time

Wood blinds are a little different from things like washing machines and dryers, they usually have to be cut to fit, so if you buy them from one of the more expensive specialty stores, they obviously won't take them back. Why would they want a bunch of blinds that are odd sizes, ones cut to measure for your specific windows? But places like Home Depot may take them back, just because of their general policy to refund money on anything that you are unhappy with.

To answer your question about whether you can return blinds after you have already installed them, that would depend on where you got them. If you've ordered them from a specialty window blinds store where they come and and measure and show you samples, you're not likely to get your money back, but places like Sears and Lowes will probably take them back and refund your money. With blinds, though, you want to be sure before you install them that they are the ones you want.

Hi Maggie, you should measure for your blinds from inside the wooden frame of the window. You do not want to measure from the outside as you blinds would stick our from the window. When the blinds are properly installed, they will move up and down from inside, which makes for a nice finished installation.

I have question about a statement on your blog. "When buying discount wood blinds online it is important to understand their warranty and return policy". What happens if I install the blinds and they look terrible..can't I still take them back? I realize the hardware has been used, but the blinds are exactly worn out. What are my chances of getting my money back or having the ability to exchange them?

How long do the real wood blinds last compared to the fake ones? Is it worth the extra cash to go with real cherry for instance? I am not trying to be cheap, I just want to make the best investment in my home for the least amount of money.

I saw some blinds in an office building that would look great in my husbands new office. I asked the secretary if she knew what type they were or where they purchased them and she didn't know. Do you know of an easy way to find out what type of blinds they are? Thanks in advance,

I want to get new blinds for my living room. Do I measure from the inside of the window or the outside of the frame? I am thinking it would be the inside for the brackets to fit on the inside, but I don't want to measure all of the windows and be measuring the wrong thing.

Every household is focused on ways to save money. Frivolous spending is a thing of the past with an unstable economy. Saving money is a good thing that should have been practiced more closely before the current economic meltdown. Nevertheless, retailers are now paying the price that consumers are no longer willing to pay, literally.
